Traditional Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) with additional properties of fault-tolerance and dynamic membership is known as Dynamic Virtual Private Network (DVPN). DVPN is an intranet enabler which was developed to secure intranet without compromising its benefits of flexibility and ease of use. DVPNs use encryption and authentication to securely deliver data to the destination. The data remains encapsulated until it reaches to the destination where only it can be decrypted. The authentication takes place at endpoints before establishing the tunneling connection. For authentication process highly secure digital signatures and certificates are used. To ensure the security of data, it uses Kerberos, Data Encryption Standard (DES) and RSA Algorithm. DVPN provides various features like dynamic community, improved integrity and high security. Implementation of DPVN is highly recommended as it provides an open environment to accommodate more information needs of the business in a secure manner.
