Fourth-Generation Cellular Communication System
4G is the fourth generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology, succeeding 3G. A 4G system must provide capabilities defined by ITU in IMT Advanced.Potential and current applications include amended mobile web access,IP telephony, gaming services,high-definition mobile TV, video conferencing, and 3D television.4G networks are projected to provide speeds of 100 Mbps while moving and 1 Gbps while stationary.Unlike the 3G networks which are a combination of circuit switched and packet switched networks, 4G will be based on packet switching only. This will allow low-latency data transmission.
4G POSSIBILITIES:Enhanced Mobile Gaming, Personal Media Repository, Virtual Presence, Broadband Access in Remote Locations.WIMAX (world Interoperability for Microwave Access) used in fixed and mobile wimax.
